After your visit, Doug’s made great progress with barking at the door, and with healing and walking in general. I kept the collar on him for a couple of weeks full time. Sometimes it would be on, sometimes off, but frequent enough where he got a couple of good shots of citronella. He learned fast, and respected the collar. For the last two weeks, we’ve noticed him running to the door when someone comes in, but barking is down to a quiet “woof” if anything. This weekend we had people in and he was perfect.
Doug heels and walks pretty well. It only took a couple of weeks of practice to get him to heel with just the lightest of touch on the leash, and then pretty much just with the verbal command. He is walking well – following just to the rear.
Kenny – our red standard – is now wearing a collar as well. We noticed he was instigating barking, so we used the same solution. He’s coming along as well.
Thanks for your help with Doug. His behaviour is so much better, he may get spoiled with all the love he gets!
